Babywearing – everything you need to know
Babywearing means closeness, security and everyday freedom – for your baby and for you. At Hoppediz, we have been working intensively with babywearing for more than 25 years. This experience flows into our products, our instructions and into this knowledge guide.
This page gives you clear orientation: from basic principles and ergonomics to safety and common questions (for example from birth, age-appropriate carrying or face forward carrying).

Why babywearing is so valuable
Being carried meets a natural need for many babies: closeness, movement and body contact provide orientation and security. And for you, babywearing can make everyday life much easier – without any pressure to be perfect.
- Your baby stays close to you and feels safe.
- Your hands are free (for siblings, household tasks or being on the go).
- Many babies settle more easily when carried.
- More flexibility in daily life – stairs, public transport or short errands.

Ergonomic babywearing – what does that mean?
Ergonomic babywearing means carrying your baby in a way that supports their natural development – while also being comfortable for you.
- M-position (spread-squat position): knees higher than the bottom, legs supported.
- Physiologically rounded baby back: especially important for newborns.
- Even weight distribution: carrying should feel stable and comfortable.

Safety when babywearing
Safety always comes first when babywearing. You don’t need to be afraid of making mistakes – knowing the basic rules and observing your baby carefully is what matters.
- Clear airways: mouth and nose remain free, chin off the chest.
- Visible at all times: you can always see and check your baby.
- Secure fit: close to your body, without pressure.
- Age-appropriate: adjustments match your baby’s size and development.
- Do not sleep while carrying: even if your baby falls asleep, stay awake and check positioning regularly.
