Choosing the Right Sling Length | What Size Do You Need? | Hoppediz
Choosing the right sling length
which length suits you?
The right sling length helps you carry your baby ergonomically, safely and comfortably. Here you’ll learn what matters – clearly explained, with practical tips from babywearing practice.
How do I choose the right sling length?
Woven wraps are very flexible and adapt to your body. The most important factors for choosing the right length are your preferred tying method and your body shape.
In many families, both parents use the same wrap length. Even if one person is taller, you can simply tie the wrap a little higher or lower – so your baby still sits comfortably close to you.
What matters is that you can finish with a secure double knot, without the tails being extremely long or ending up too short.
What to look for when choosing a wrap
- Tying method: Front wrap cross carry and other multi-layer carries need more fabric than simpler options.
- Body shape: Your clothing size is a rough guide, but it isn’t the only deciding factor.
- Tail length: It’s practical when the ends don’t hang too long (often around mid-thigh is a good guide).
- Carry height: Your baby should sit high enough to kiss – comfortable for you and easy to monitor.
